Splitting Land
From Virtual Worlds
Just as in the computer you do not dump all files together in a single directory, it makes much sense to split your land into several parcels. Each of these parcels can be devoted to a training class, simulation, division of your organization, etc. Each of these parcels can have its own access rules.
To carve out a parcel of land:
- Stand on your land. If you do not see property lines, turn them "on": from the View Menu turn "on" Property Lines. You should see land boundaries shown in green and red.
- Right-click the ground and choose Edit Terrain. The ground changes color, you are now in edit mode.
- Your mouse can now be used to left-drag a yellow bounding box around part of your land to select it. Select the portion of land you want to carve into its own parcel. Note: If you are carving out a relatively large parcel, it is more convenient to do when flying at a significant height. This way you will be able to see all or almost all the land and draw the lines accurately.
- After you select the land you want to carve out, click Subdivide from the Edit pane. If you can't see this option but can see a More button, click that first and you should see the Subdivide option appear.
- Confirm the split when asked. Once you have agreed, your land will be divided into two separate parcels.
Both parcels can have their own names, land options, access rules, advertising capabilities, etc.
